One of my life long dreams is to travel the world, and I will do anything possible to do this before I kick the bucket. One of the places I think I would start with would probably be the UK. During my research on this grand sovereign state I found a couple of facts that seemed interesting and quite important to me.

. The UK has well established relations with Australia, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand and many South East Asian nations, and has defence links with most countries in the region.

. The UK is one of the biggest contributors to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

. Nearly 25 million overseas visitors came to the UK in 2003.

. Scotland has about 790 islands, of which some 130 are inhabited.

My research has only made me want to visit the UK even more. Millions of people around the world visit this beautiful place because of it’s variety in landscapes and beautiful scenery. I’m glad to know that they’re very involved in helping resolve crime, and contribute knowledge to many other countries. Scotland would be the first area I’d visit, thanks to the images I've been able to see I have become obsessed with it’s amazing castles and green pastures. It seems very peaceful and awe inspiring. The UK has well established relations with many other countries and most of them are the places I've always wanted to travel to. This inspires me even more to do so. Since visiting only one is not enough for a curious person like me, I plan on continuing to explore the world and hopefully return the beautiful United Kingdom.

What happened on the 20th was an important moment in the modern history of Puerto Rico. This is of course, because two
groups of people got together in front of El Capitolio to stand up for their beliefs. In this case it is discussed if the Law 54 should protect all couples from abuse within it, no matter their sexual orientation. What is at stake in this situation is everything that holds a community together. I say this because no matter their decision, there is no way that it will end in a way where there will be peace for any of the parties. Another thing that is at stake is the future, the way that families will be raised, the environment they will be in and of course everything in society will be affected by this decision; it will eventually change sexual education at school in the long run and everything in between. One side would be the ones against the rights of marrige and the others that come along with it, people assume they are all christians but everyone that says they are "supporting the family" are included. The other party would be the ones that are in favor of laws dictating that couples of the same sex will be able to be married and have such rights as the Law 54. I think this is a very important issue, mainly because this decision affects other decisions in the future and everyone in the community. It will also open doors for other rights to be demanded along with it in the near future. It represents where the future is going and how things will be dealt later on. It can certainly be considered an important moment in history, because this is not only happening in Puerto Rico but it's happening all around the world and it surely has influence in the decisions that will be made for the next generations that come after us.

I feel that although this is a sensitive subject for us all, I must share what I think about the subject. We all think we know
what is best for the community, which is why we try to be heard by the rest and the easiest and most effective way to do
this is  by forming groups and express these thoughts together. Perhaps these two sides act so fiercely defending what they
belief because of how strong they feel about them and how they think it could affect significantly the rest, our sons and
daughters and their kids. I myself respect same sex couples and believe that your sexual orientation does not define
you as a person or who you are, rather than your sexual preference. Although I do accept, respect and do not judge them
for their preference, I do not support gay marriage. As a christian and as myself I do believe that this law is a good
option to protect every type of couple, but I am against it because in my opinion it's obvious for the gay community
this will open doors to continue to ask for marriage rights, altering education, etc. I think this is a good change in the
law but sadly not for the society we currently live in. We are protected by other laws and I think that besides these
difficult and sensitive matters we should all have equal protection from abuse from anyone. We are not our sexual
orientation.I am still unsure of what will be the final result of this, but hopefully there can be an understanding between
both parties and have an agreement in which we can all benefit of as a society.

Romantic songs... Oh how I loathe those Latin ballads about being together and basking in their love forever. I do however enjoy those classic rock ballads and truly good romantic music is perfectly acceptable for me, as long as it's not a sappy love song that makes you want to roll your eyes and see last night's meal splattered  all over the floor.

Exhibit A) "El Amor"
There are many reasons why I detest this song, first of all the rhythm, secondly the lyrics and third but not least,
his voice. The lyrics of this song seem like a six year old wrote them in the midst their first teacher crush. It's pretty much ridiculously obnoxious, even more with his voice sounding like he has a lawn mower
for vocal chords and seems like he is technically speaking, not singing at all.
Lyrics

Exhibit B) "Un Beso"
It's funny how all sappy and irritating songs have an annoying and squeaky voice mixed with a repetitive beat. Some people consider this a romantic song, I think it's a horn ball singing about spotting an attractive woman and instantly jumping on her on the first chance he gets. I think it's horribly written and it's all about what a kiss is. Really? This song is an overdramatic description of two strangers sharing saliva.
Lyrics

Luckily, there are equally as good love songs and some that you just can't help but sing along to.
Some of them  just as emotional and repetitive but the quality in lyrics, vocals and well... Music in general is completely different from those which make us want to facepalm ourself to oblivion when it's even just mentioned.
#1) "Farewell Rocketship"
I like this song mainly because I would like someone to dedicate it to me. I've had it replaying in my mind for days now  and escaping to a new planet with only one other person that matches you sounds perfect. Without being too  serious or sentimental,  it manages to be original and just a tad unusual, it seems just right for me.
Lyrics

#2) "I'm Old Fashioned"
Chet Bakers voice is so charming, soft and soothing; I can listen to it for hours. The instrumental is lovely and I can really relate to this song,  Im quite old fashioned and if I were to spend my time
with someone else I'd like it to be and feel like this song, simple yet enchanting,
Lyrics

All this talk about love brings me to anti-love songs.

#1) "Loveless"
Although there are many that could be considered anti-love anthems, that go directly to bashing it in every way, there are others as this one. Even though it's not as direct, it has the same effect. It kees alive the fact that we all crave love in some way even if we try to hide it, like when you acquire it and suddenly it‘s gone. It‘s the human condition.
Lyrics

#2) "Go Your Own Way"
While describing a bittersweet relationship with it's ups-downs and push-pulls, this song manages to be lovely and realistic. Even more being written when the band members were also having problems of their own and made the album  to avoid breaking it up. It's relatable, catchy and quite pleasant to listen to.
Lyrics
Valentine'day has always been pretty normal for me, I don'really celebrate it in any way besides the usual
giving out the cards when I was in elementary school, of course that stopped once I began to keep them for
myself because I didn't want to share my limited edition Wizard Of Oz cards. During the younger years I
would be showered in gifts without really trying, there would always be at least one boy that would give me
presents, candy and the usual ways of showing affection but I never replied. I just accepted the gifts without
accepting their proposals. Along the years I became more unnoticed and I wasn't getting the same attention,
I liked this though considering I never really felt any attraction to the ones that had wanted to be my valentine
the years before. The best February 14th I have had was probably one during high school, they had a party but
I spent the day sitting in the bleachers in the back of the school just talking to my two friends. Although it
sounds simple, to me it was the most significant and the only one I truly remember.

I'm currently in process of changing my major in college, which means technically I'm still studying two things. I take pre-law and media courses(communication studies), I think this reflects on the topics I've chosen to research.

These are:
. Scripted vs. unscripted entertainment
. The root causes behind violent crimes
. Subliminal messages in children's movies

I could easily spend hours browsing information about these topics, but I agree with the thought that research begins with formulating a critical and personal view, I'll try to write about these with only my personal thoughts on them.

Scripted vs. unscripted entertainment
Although unscripted entertainment keeps us interested and possibly the spontaneity of it gives it a fresh and realistic feel, I believe those which are scripted have a chance to be better thought out and the message it wants to send may be more accurate. I assume that unscripted entertainment must have a plan before happening, but not being scripted beforehand may possibly cause the entertainers to come up with spur of the moment actions or topics that are not favorable for the public. By this I don't mean it will not entertain them, it most probably will but it can steer away from the purpose of what is being communicated or simply turn into what we could call "pure entertainment", with no purpose or important message to give at all.

The root causes behind violent crimes
Violent crime is a very actively discussed topic in society, but it should be treated with caution. If we pay attention
to the media we can see that the news that make the front page and the box office movies are related  directly or
indirectly with violent crimes or violence in general. Even if it's become a rather common topic, people rarely speak
of the root causes behind violent crimes, but of the action itself. There are just so many possible reasons, but I will just
mention those which I find most evident and yet not analyzed by much. That being said, I believe that even though
not in all cases, growing up in what  we would call a dysfunctional home since childhood may lead them develop a
violent nature and in the future act on it. Not just family, but violence and problems adapting, also the influence of
what is seen in media, the environment they are(ex. school) and even certain life changing experiences or accidents
can also be a part of this. Even if this is so, I think it's all these elements working together, possibly along with a
distorted view of reality and personality disorders that really lead the individuals  to take such actions against others.

Subliminal messages in children's movies
This is something we see everyday but most of the time don't really notice. Along the years I have been able to
identify a considerably large number of hidden messages in children's movies. These include racism, violence, sexual
references and euphemisms, political influence, etc. Whether these are intentional or not is not easily proven,  but it
is surely known that these are existent and in abundance. Children are exposed to subliminal messages that slowly but
surely affect their subconscious,  affecting the actions and decisions they make. This will keep going on and will not
stop as long as they're exposed to as much media as children are in our current type of society, where TV sets have in
some cases become their nannies and best friends. Subliminal messages in children's movies are here to stay and better hidden with time and the majority of us will continue being oblivious  to the fact.

One of my main hobbies is researching, I enjoy spending time learning and stumbling across interesting finds about a variety of things. Most of what I like to research include new words, animals, information on music and film, crime news and info, facts and articles about other countries and their culture, shocking and bizarre news, past centuries, etc. I like this because I'm quite curious and by researching, curiosity turns into an itch I can scratch. I can broaden my knowledge and be entertained at the same time. Even if I'm fond of researching these, I undoubtedly hate researching things that don't interest me at all. I mostly don't enjoy researching much about politics and economy. I like this activity when it's for me, not because I'm being forced to do so for a specific purpose. It kind of feels like I could be using that time to read or watch something of my liking or that I find valuable, rather than doing that which seems useless to me at the moment. Even so, I recognize that all knowledge  is good and useful. Even researching about the things we are not interesting always comes in handy.

Although I'm currently taking courses related  to media studies and I plan to continue my studies in film
production, I often think about the other roads I could take. My  thoughts are closer to studying crime scene
investigation. Not many people are right for this job, it can be too intense for some or the scenes just too real. I'm well
aware its very different from what you see in TV shows like CSI and such, but it's really something I could see myself
doing, I would find myself dealing with something different everyday unlike sitting in a cubicle staring at a clock on a
plain wall for eight hours.
But am  I currently in the right path? In midst of my curiosity I answered a career test, which revealed that my
personality type is that of 1% of the total population.  It describes me as an INFJ:Author, I came to understand some of
my traits with this description. When analyzing myself I agree with most of what describes an INFJ, even so I believe
that there really is no category that can describe me fully and accurately. I think  people are way too complicated to be
categorized by answering a small amount of multiple choice questions. I do feel that if not taken too seriously, the
careers suggested by this method are indeed helpful. There are a couple of reasons why I didn't go through with
studying to be a CSI, but the most important is simply that it's not my dream. It's a different kind of feeling once you
dream to do what you love, even if I'm unsuccessful at what I wish to do in the future, I will not regret trying. If I fail at
my main goal then I will certainly go through with plan B, but always keeping film making in my life.

 Job Offerings
Prominent In The Field

Although  for many this  photograph might not catch their eye or get their slightest attention, it seems quite extraordinary to me. I say this because my sight feels at ease when I observe  it, no matter how long I do. The coloring also makes it seem as if it was taken some decades ago. With this image I can easily mentally teleport myself to that scenery, it makes it effortless to instantly imagine a story that would take place there. It screams lonesomeness and loss, mystery and solitude.  Ironically, I can also see peace and silence, which brings me comfort. The only words I can use to describe  this photo with would be: The beginning of the end.

I can think of...
On a Wednesday afternoon, a young and pale girl around eight years old decides to get on her bright red bicycle and ride around her small neighborhood. Her name was Olive. She combed her short red hair and put on her favorite, and overly used pair of saddle shoes, expecting to be back before her mother got home from the neighbor's house. She didn't want her to worry because of her mom's so called GAD. She didn't have a clue what that meant, but it certainly seemed like a fancy word to her while she eavesdropped from the staircase during one of her parents' daily discussions. She also liked the words flaky and erratic, the first made her think of beautiful white snowflakes and the latter just seemed smart to her. Her mother was too distracted with the conversation she was having with the nosy neighbor about her problems with her husband, and failed to notice that Olive had been gone for almost three hours. She'd been riding all that time, once she began she just couldn't stop but didn't know why, she just wanted to keep going farther away. Although she was already lost, Olive stopped when she saw a lake, she'd never seen anything that intriguing before. She wasn't allowed to go to these places because of her overprotective mother knew she couldn't swim and wanted to avoid anything happening altogether, even more because she had always been so curious. But she was all alone this time, to do as she pleased. She thought "'They probably haven't even noticed I'm gone. Just a quick look. After all, nobody's looking." She didn't think it twice, left her bike next to the road and walked down to the lake, she thought it funny to try to find a fish in it.

(This story is leading towards what most of you would consider a sad end. I'd like you to tell me what you want to happen next... Maybe the outcome will be different,)

The first sounds I remember hearing were the lovely tunes of The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Thanks to my parents I've been introduced to many different genres and eras of music, helping me explore and experience different emotions through them. Although I've grown to enjoy most of them, Rock has always been my preference, being influenced by rhythm and blues and country music. With such a history and variety of sub-genres, it seems impossible for me not to enjoy all of them. It gives a sense of freedom to us, a feeling that not all music can accomplish. In a way, it allows us to separate from reality to feel and act however we desire. It has no limits, no boundaries. Rock music is about expressing what you feel, when you feel it; even if what you feel is absolutely nothing.

Along the years the genre has developed so many different styles that shock and influence society in such a way
that could be divided in ages of rock. Although I've had moments in my life where I listen to some sub genres more
than others, I mostly enjoy listening to the 20th century sounds of rock. Along with these, I appreciate the great
cultural impact it had, such as the different fashion trends it inspired. Rock  music  has been a part of  my life since
I can recall my first memories of picking up a bottle of milk while singing to my Beatle's inspired song. Hopefully,
along the years, rock music will gain the strong influence in society it once possessed. Allowing them to find comfort
and freedom to express themselves in it, as earlier generations once had.

We've seen them invading our popular media along the years. In a superpowerless world, we can't help but wonder what it would be like to actually have a superpower. If we're able to imagine a world with superhuman abilities and ourselves in it, why not go all the way? Ability absorption. By stealing the powers of others I would be able to have any and all of the skills that a superhuman being could desire, at the same time rending my opponents powerless.
